Startup, beauty industry, Ph.D. candidate

I have had a wide variety of different scientific jobs over the past nearly 10 years, and I am looking forward to seeing what is next. I started as a lab tech at a local biotech startup, purifying DNA for an experimental Lupus diagnostic.

I spent years honing my pipetting skills before realizing that my passion was in the machine shop. I loved to work with my hands, at a scale that I could see with my own eyes. My favorite tool was always the laser cutter, and I even had one in my bedroom for a couple years right out of undergrad.

After a BS in biomedical engineering from Georgia Tech, I worked for L’Oreal for a couple years as a Scientist focusing on Rapid Prototyping and Robotics. It was a hugely formative experience and has shaped how I approach design, even as I now pursue a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at UCSB.

I love my current research, so please feel free to reach out so we can talk about it.
